HOW TO REGISTER FOR CRA’S MY ACCOUNT FOR INDIVIDUALS

CRA's My Account for Individuals is a secure portal that lets you view your personal income tax and benefit information and manage your tax affairs online.

CRA's My Account for Individuals is:

  • Convenient – It is available 21 hours a day, 7 days a week (see Hours of service).

  • Easy to use – After registering, simply sign in with your CRA user ID and password.

  • Fast – Information is up-to-the-minute and transactions are processed immediately.

  • Secure – The CRA user ID and password are just part of the security.

Individuals can use the My Account service and authorized representatives (including accountants and employees) can access the same services through Represent a Client.

To get access, you will need:

  • your Social Insurance Number (SIN);

  • your Date of Birth;

  • your current Postal code or ZIP code and;

  • an amount you entered on your income tax and benefit return, so have your return on hand (the line requested will vary and it could be from the current tax year or the previous one).

Kindly follow the steps on how to create CRA's My Account for Individuals

To get started, go to canada.ca/my-cra-account and select

  • Option 1 if you want to use your banking details to log in, or

  • Option 2 – “CRA register” if you want to create your own CRA user ID and password

To validate your identity, enter your Social Insurance Number (SIN).

The next step will be to create a CRA user ID and password.

Note: Remember to use a unique password, not one you use everywhere else.

Review and agree to the terms and conditions of use by entering your password and selecting “I agree”.

You can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 if you need to get your code sooner.

When you receive your code, enter it into My Account(Individual) to have full access.

If you choose Option 2, make sure you have the following information:

Social Insurance Number

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)

  • Your home address' Postal Code

  • Date of Birth

  • Your Recent Filed Personal Income Tax Return â€‹

Next, enter your

postal code or zip code,

date of birth, and the amount of line 15000 that you calculated and reported on the most recent tax return you filed (from either the current or previous tax year). The return you use must have been filed and assessed.

(Enter an amount you entered on one of your income tax and benefit returns. The line amount requested will vary, it could be from the current tax year or the previous one)

Then, select and answer five security questions.

The CRA will mail you a security code and it takes one to two weeks to get it.

 

If you have chosen to have a CRA security code issued via email, you will now be asked to contact the CRA.

Registration is now complete until you receive your code.
